Education is very important for any society
because prosperity and well being of a society totally depends upon education. More
educated a society is, greater it will grow and prosper. Several states in the
past and now developed after doing effective reforms in education.A person who
spend his whole life without knowledge is like finding a needle in a room
without light. In Islam, the importance of knowledge can be judge by the first
verse of Quran which says, “Read. Read in the name of Lord who created”.
Another Surah of Quran says, “ Are those who have knowledge equal to those who
do not have knowledge?!”(39:9). Knowledge enables a person too deeply know the
God and all things in surroundings.

Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W), focused on the
importance of education. He (S.AW) even ask the prisoners to teach ten Muslim children in order to get released after
Battle of Badar. According the meanings of different Hadees by Prophet Muhammad
(S.A.W), “ One will seek knowledge from cradle to grave”. This Hadees indicates
that every time one should try to seek knowledge at every time in this whole
life. Meaning of another Hadees are, “ Try to gain knowledge even you have to go to
China”. This shows the importance of a place to get knowledge. Importance of
knowledge for both men and women can be
judge from this Hadees, “It is duty of every Muslim to seek knowledge”.
Division of knowledge
Islam has divided knowledge into two major
types which are, gaining knowledge about religion and knowledge about world.From
the beginning Islam has provided freedom to conduct research. As a result,
several Muslim scientist were appeared and contributed a lot to this world. Even
later, several Muslim leaders focus on the importance of education and build
many universities in their states in order to
promote education. Students from the whole world come
to these states in order to seek knowledge. Even now, almost all Muslim
countries are focusing on education in order to complete in this modern world.
